Parenting & Piercing

My lovely daughter wanted her nose pierced.
You have to be 18 to get pierced in this city unless a parent with the same last name (IDs required) signs and accompanies the minor.

I was adamantly opposed when she started petitioning me several months ago.

Recently she and her friend did some research on piercing. They went to 3 different piercing parlors in town, got their pricing and materials, inspected for cleanliness and friendliness of staff.
Immaculate in 5-Points, although more expensive was the top pick by far.

One Friday night there was an all out appeal. She gave a great sob story about being good and the lack of rewards for that. It was a good pity party - but I said I'd sleep on it. Not sure what it is in my oh so liberal mind that objected so severely at first besides a permanent hole in the nose, infection, some social concerns and of course the ole "who's gonna give you a job with that thing on your nose?"

Next day I knew immediately that I was gonna let her do it.
Oh the power of parenting.

Being a single parent, sometimes I feel like I'm having to play the bad guy all the time. So I thought - today I'm gonna be the good guy. (She was not expecting it)
A small decoration on the body is not really a big deal. Some cultures start piercing from the get go....

The rules:
She had to pay for it - $55.
If there was any infection it would come out.
She had to get something subtle.
She had to purchase any special cleaning stuff.

She was pretty stoked.
Anyways, the experience was quite pleasant. The girls that ran the shop were extremely knowledgeable, professional, cute and cool freaky of course.
The handbook we had to read before she could do it gave me a little pause and after several exclamations like: "You're gonna soak your nose and blow bubbles in saline water twice a day for 4 months!!??"
Teen: "I know! I know!, YEESSSSS! I've thought about it".

She got a hole poked in her nostril that has a bent post and a tiny silver star on one end.
Course next week it will be more purple hair and a scull and cross bone on the forehead or something.
I will draw the line!
Ok. Ok. it is quite pretty.
I can't even see it without my glasses!
You have to ZOOM in to see in this pic see!

Sometimes you Do get rewarded for being good.
